Katelyn McDougall’s passion for social justice and urban geography led her to move to Vancouver, uprooting herself from the sea-side city known as Nanaimo. Since moving to Vancouver she has pursued a Masters of Urban Studies degree at Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on transportation finance and decision making within an intergovernmental context. She also works as a policy, research and public engagement consultant with a knack for facilitating discussion.
Katelyn cares deeply about the places she lives and the world around her. She believes that cities are sites of constant change, but not always for the better, and that citizen engagement is a key characteristic to keeping a city grounded. She has a real interest in the provincial government’s role in urban development and sustainability, and in creating policies that reduce barriers to essential services, housing, and education. She also loves photography, pottery, dogs, and sugary treats.
