Jacquie McNulty

Jacquie was born in Calgary but now calls Edmonton home. At an early age she discovered her deep love of music. As a harpist, she enjoyed spending hours practicing her instrument alone or as part of a community in orchestra. Her love of music brought her to McGill University and the New England Conservatory in Boston where she studied the instrument. While in Boston, she discovered the social justice movement called El-Sistema that seeks to promote positive social change through music. El Sistema changed the course of her life and reshaped her passion for building community.
Her desire to learn more about El-Sistema and social justice work brought her to Los Angeles where she completed a Master's of Arts in Teaching with a focus on El Sistema. Here, she worked with many incredible students and learned from  brilliant teachers which helped lay the foundation for her understanding for how to work positively within a community, take on a strength based approach, and to always ask questions.
As her time in LA came to a close, Jacquie was humbled to receive a position with YONA-Sistema, the Edmonton based El-Sistema inspired program run through the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. She is so grateful to work with such an incredible community of students, families, and staff- her second family. In addition to her love of music, Jacquie enjoys spending time outside hiking, rock climbing, or swimming.
