BC Indigenous Youth In Action

Indigenous Youth in Action BC is a free, 4-day leadership program for Indigenous young people (17-32) from Vancouver, Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, and beyond. Next Up has partnered with IndigenEYEZ to bring young people together to explore topics including land defense, campaigns organizing, media work, and state policy. Select guest speakers with in-depth experience in campaigns and indigenous sovereignty work join our team of core facilitators. While sessions take on a variety of formats, on-the-land teachings are incorporated into the program as one method of exploring decolonization.

Humanity is in an unprecedented era of environmental destruction. This program is intended for activists, leaders, educators, changemakers and individuals interested in equipping themselves with the right tools, understanding and community necessary to walk through this challenging time in a good way.

IMG_2598.jpgThe program launched in August, 2016 and is entering its second year. Inspired by the First Nations and Metis Youth in Action program originating in Saskatchewan, Next Up BC is excited to work with IndigenEYEZ to build leadership programming in BC.

We are grateful to all our funders who have made this programming possible, with special thanks to the Vancouver Foundation.
