DIY Media as a Tool for Empowerment

Join us for a FREE talk and workshop on grassroots DIY media for social change! We’ll be discussing:
- Nonconventional, alternative, and grassroots media
- Media, social change and empowerment
- Making your own media: Counter-ads, zines, games, and more

After the discussion, we'll be working solo or in teams to make our own zines and counter-ads on different topics.

4:00 - 4:30: Land acknowledgement and check-in
4:30 - 5:30: Grassroots media discussion
5:30 - 6:30: Break + Dinner
6:30 - 7:30: Zine making workshop
7:30 - 8:00: Wrap-up and take-aways

The workshop will be facilitated by Manuela Valle-Castro, program coordinator of Next Up Saskatchewan, a national non-profit that supports youth leadership.

This session is open to all members of the community, but we especially encourage youth who are interested in social change and activism.
