Year 2 of the CLP
The Next Up Climate Leadership Program (CLP) is now into its second year! Like the 2016 pilot program, it is an intensive 5 weekend program for Alberta residents who are committed to bringing climate action to their workplaces and organizations.

Year 1 of the CLP
The 2016 CLP had 27 participants from across the province, representing people working in the public service, municipalities, First Nations, education, healthcare, energy and power industries, faith groups and labour. We held workshops in Edmonton, Calgary, Kananaskis Country, and Red Deer. Participants met policy makers, leaders from their sectors of work, and expert facilitators to learn climate policy, social leadership, and a range of practical skills needed to inspire and support climate action within their workplaces and organizations. A principal part of the CLP is the development of a climate action plan specific to each participant by using a peer-support model and ongoing resources provided by the CLP. In September of 2016, CLP participants reunited in Calgary to report back on the progress of their action plans and to make plans for further CLP check-ins and CLP network activities. CLP grads are part of the national Next Up network of progressive leaders in social and environmental justice who will continue to support their capacity through opportunities with Next Up's Edmonton and Calgary programs. We plan to offer the CLP again in 2018 in Alberta.
