Passionate about gender justice and queering spaces, Chelle has been involved in several projects related to transgender rights, including the Time 4 Rights campaign that is calling for an amendment to The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code to include ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender expression’ as prohibited grounds of discrimination. As a student at the University of Saskatchewan, she works as a researcher for the Provost’s Advisory Committee for Gender and Sexual Diversity. Chelle is also heavily involved with the Avenue Community Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, where she held a position as Summer Events Coordinator, and continues to volunteer as a researcher and programming assistant. After completing her undergrad in Political Studies and Gender Studies, she hopes to pursue a Master of Social Work program and expand her community work. When she has free time, Chelle loves to run, practice yoga, play board games, and attend live music shows.
